Abraham – Promises to him were never fulfilled in his lifetime

Abraham never actually owned the land God gave him.  Since God promised him he would have it for an everlasting possession, and God cannot lie, then the promise of the land for an everlasting possession was an implied promise of resurrection and eternal life.

Genesis 23:4 I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.

1 Chronicles 16:18 Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan.. and strangers in it.

Psalms 105:9-12 Which covenant he made with Abraham… Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance

Acts 7:5 And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on

Hebrews 11:9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country

Hebrews 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises… were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
